Our History
Since 2019, Vegan Hacktivists (VH) has grown into a leading organization providing free, high-quality tech and design capacity-building services for the animal advocacy movement.
As the movement's needs evolve, so does our work. This is why you may know us from many different projects!
We started as a scrappy group of volunteers building innovative tools for fellow vegans. Over time, we've grown into the organization we are now, providing expert services and high-tech projects that support the animal advocacy movement at large. While building technology remains core to our work, our focus has shifted from individual projects to strategic tools that address the movement's most pressing needs.
Today, we're proud of the flagship programs that we designed and continuously manage:
Granti - A platform that centralizes and streamlines grant management processes for both grantmakers and grantees
Flockwork - Our platform where we match professional animal advocates with skilled volunteers.
FAST - A community that connects 1,800+ animal advocates from 600+ organizations, all united in the fight to end factory farming.
In 2024, our design team split off to form Violet Studios, our sister organization offering free creative services to uplift the movement.
Our growth has been driven by innovation, our ability to adapt, and the dedication of incredible volunteers.
Many of our team members began as volunteers and now serve as dedicated staff. We work alongside over 2,600 volunteers across our networks. Since 2019, we've supported hundreds of organizations worldwide, improving their operations and helping them reach wider audiences through advanced digital tools.
VH started as a modest idea to use technology for animals and has grown into the movement's premier provider of tech services.
From our earliest projects to today's advanced tools, we've always been grateful to support the incredible people in our cause, helping them create change and save animals.

Partners
Our sister organization
Violet Studios is the original design team from Vegan Hacktivists. Now, Violet runs as our sister organization, offering high-quality creative services at no cost to the animal advocacy movement. We partner with them on website development and collaborate on VH-led projects.
Supporting new initiatives
We're mentors of the Kickstarting For Good program, offering support on organizational strategy and tech-focused initiatives. We also collaborate with Violet Studios to develop new websites for qualifying organizations launched and accelerated through ProVeg's Kickstarting for Good incubator.
Facilitating seed grants to activists
We partner with The Pollination Project (TPP) to offer seed grants up to $1,000 USD for animal rights activism. We seek individuals and grassroots groups whose primary purpose is to reduce suffering for farmed animals. As part of this partnership, we boost the visibility of the seed grants and review applications, connecting qualifying candidates with TPP.
Strengthening grantmaking in Africa
We've partnered with global grantmaker Thrive Philanthropy to better support organizations driving food systems change across Africa. Through this partnership, we provide the technical infrastructure via Granti – our platform that streamlines grant management – while Thrive brings regional expertise to strengthen funding for high-impact organizations.
Creating an entry point to animal advocacy
Through this partnership, Animal Advocacy Careers (AAC) directs people eager to volunteer in the animal advocacy movement to Flockwork, our skilled volunteer platform. Likewise, Flockwork redirects those aspiring to pursue career-oriented roles in animal advocacy to AAC.
