We have some exciting news to share: Vegan Hacktivists has officially been recognized as an Environmental Partner of 1% for the Planet.

This partnership connects us to a global network of over 4,800 businesses committed to donating at least 1% of their annual sales to environmental causes – but what equally excites us is what this recognition represents.

What This Partnership Signals

When 1% for the Planet recognizes animal advocacy organizations as environmental partners, it reinforces the idea that these causes aren't separate, but deeply intertwined instead. Every time an organization like ours shows up amongst other environmental partners, it reminds businesses that the fight against factory farming is also a fight for our planet.

For the animal advocacy movement, this also signals potential opportunities for funding and collaboration with environmental organizations.

How 1% for the Planet Works

Founded in 2002 by Patagonia's Yvon Chouinard and Blue Ribbon Flies' Craig Mathews, 1% for the Planet has facilitated hundreds of millions of dollars in environmental giving.

The model is straightforward: businesses commit to donating at least 1% of their annual sales to approved environmental organizations, then donate directly to partners making environmental impact. As of 2025, the network includes over 7,200 environmental partners worldwide.

As Chouinard explains: "The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world's problems."
